Christmas at the House of Lovebo

On Christmas we intended to revive an old Lovejoy-Grinnell tradition of taking turns reading Christmas stories to each other, but Theo and Beckett stole the show early with their performance of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. Beckett read the story while Theo performed an interpretive dance and occasionally lip-synced. It was amazing, as Theo would say.

The boys also opened the presents they picked out for each other.

These goofy Cornell Hockey hats were the surprise hit of Christmas. Theo has been wearing his a lot!

Zoo day with daddy

The day before Christmas Eve, Daddy took Reed and Beckett to the zoo while Theo and I stayed home to wrap presents, bake cookies and clean the house.

Last Sunday Theo and Beckett and I went to Ithaca to celebrate Community Climbing day at Cornell to celebrate the life of Tim Starr, the brother of a friend of mine from high school. Theo and Beckett each got two chances to climb the wall. The last climb Theo (in black) had, he picked a great route for their size limbs and got all the way up to the top. I wish Beckett (in blue) had gotten the chance to go up that route as well.

Sleigh rides

Friday night I took the boys to Burnet Park near our house for horse-drawn sleigh rides through the park, provided by the City. We had to wait about an hour until our ride but we were warm inside and had lots to keep us occupied, from a Black Santa to cookies and hot cocoa. There were also some interesting characters there waiting for their rides, which kept the kids interested and somewhat alarmed.

Gingerbread houses

Last weekend the boys made their gingerbread houses (from Trader Joes' kits--super easy!). They were beautiful and unique and delightful for about four hours until they ate them after dinner that night. I threw them away a few days ago because they were half eaten and hard as a rock and taking up a bunch of space on our buffet.
