More weekend fun

Saturday morning started off with building a marble run while Reed took a nap (marbles plus toddler do not mix!).

The boys enjoyed the slip and slide at Violet's house and then went inside and enjoyed all the toys inside. Beckett and Violet took turns giving each other doctor checkups while Theo and Reed looked at books and played with the dollhouse.

Weekend at the lake

Last weekend we went to Seneca Lake State Park to meet my friend Susana, her husband Brandon, and their kids Memo and Cathi. They have a family place on Keuka Lake so they come visit from San Antonio TX every summer. We met up again at the playground and sprayground at Seneca Lake for a few hours Friday before we drove on to Grandma Joanie and Grandpa Stu's house.

There was a good amount of Concentration and checkers playing (some naked) at the cottage.

Reed is walking!

At 14.5 months, Reed has become a pretty able walker. He still prefers to crawl but walks more every day. Last Wednesday was the first time I watched him take five or six steps in a row confidently, and now he can walk across the room.

Theo chasing seagulls

Theo loves being at Green Lakes. He loves the playing in the sand, he loves the swimming and playing hide and seek in the water, he loves the digger, he loves the playground, and he loves building in the sand. But there is nothing he loves better than chasing seagulls, which abound at Green Lakes. This absorbs him for 10, 20 or even 30 minutes at a time. Notice how he has learned to be sneakier when finding his prey.

Fourth of July parade

We started out the Fourth of July with the boys' first parade, in the Village of Manlius. We started out with forty pounds of candy, minus the few pieces we ate that morning. We ended up with four Dum-dum lollipops.

While we were waiting in the staging area we read books on a picnic table in the shade and met some of the other candidates' families. Our driver, Dana, was super-gracious and generous and the boys had a great time checking out his awesome 1969 Camaro. He also bought them waters and yo-yos that they enjoyed learning how to operate.

It was fun to see the parade from the other side of the curb this year! Reed sat out the walking part of the parade with Grandpa Greg and Grandma Kathy and he reportedly loved clapping and pointing at the people and things in the parade.

The boys' favorite part of the day was riding in the 1969 Camaro on the way back from the end of the parade route to our car.
