Long weekend

Saturday the boys went to their friend Tahir's party. Tahir has been one of their favorites since the start of school, but one thing that never came up was that Tahir was in their class when they were 3, at the Most Holy Rosary. There was a year in between when they weren't together, and didn't see each other, but it took until his parents and I were talking at his party Saturday that we realized they were in the same class two years ago. Everyone had a blast at Billy Beez at the mall.

Sunday the boys had another birthday party, for their friend Owen, so we went to the zoo first to enjoy the sunshine.

Monday morning we met Mama Sara and Preston in Camillus for the Memorial Day parade. It started out drizzling and ended up absolutely pouring, but there was not a single complaint from any of the boys. Their favorites were the marching bands, the geico gecko, Star Wars guys, and CANDY! Which was quite wet but still tasty, apparently. Mama's favorite part was not having to march in the parade herself, unlike last year. The best and most candy the boys got was actually from one of Jeff's opponents from last year, who stopped to chat with his wife for a moment.

For some reason my phone's camera disembodied the gecko.

Boys' birthday!

Sunday we celebrated the boys' birthday with friends and family.

Monday the boys both celebrated their birthdays in their classrooms with their classmates. Theo's teacher's aide, Mr. Kennedy, has a tradition of lifting the birthday boy or girl up on his shoulders while the class sings.

Beckett's class had a more subdued celebration but Beckett did get a cool hat to wear all day.

Diggerland Trip

Daddy took Theo and Beckett to Diggerland with Uncle Jon the day before the boys' birthday. I was at a conference in Albany with Reed but it sure looks like they had a great time!

Birthday party at arts and crafts store

Saturday we had Theo and Beckett's birthday party at Michael's arts and crafts store at the mall. They each invited some friends from the neighborhood, and a couple from their school. The boys each made a cape, a shield, and a mask for their superhero outfits. After they had crafted their costumes, they paraded around the store singing happy birthday and then ate pizza and cupcakes.

On Mothers' Day morning we went to one of our favorite playgrounds, Split Rock Elementary. It started raining shortly after we got there but we passed the time running laps around the playground (both forwards and backwards) and then when it cleared up we played for a while longer.

Sunday afternoon Theo and Beckett and I spent a rainy cold afternoon seeing our first movie in the movie theater, watching the Lego Batman movie at the Hollywood theatre. Loved the reclining seats, the free refills on the popcorn, and the lenient policy on bringing in outside alcoholic beverages for moms.

Sunday night Grandma Joanie and Grandpa Stu came up to take us out for hibachi. The fire and heat and show of it all was a hit with everyone except Reed, who found it all a little scary and has continued to say "restaurant scary! Daddy hold me, keep me safe."
