Snowing again

On the snow day last Friday we watched some movies. In Beckett's case, from the inside of a laundry hamper.

Reed and Theo and Beckett all went outside but then T&;B came inside while Reed stayed out and tormented them with the shovel. Or did they torment him from inside? Not sure on that one.

Saturday we went to Maple Fest, which we could walk to from our house. Some of us were hoping for a hike through the park to tap some maple trees ourselves, but there were so many trees down along the path in the park that they canceled the hike part. But we still saw a tap demonstration at a tree next to the school, learned about and watched sap being boiled down, and we ate maple cotton candy and pancakes made by the honor society.

Yes days

Last weekend we gave the big boys their own YES DAY. A yes day means a day when one person gets to choose what happens all day--what they eat, what they do, where they go. Theo's day started with a home viewing of Coco, a fantastic movie we have watched again since, and then a Target trip to buy a Spiderman silly string dispenser and then an afternoon at Wonder Works with one of his favorite friends, Chase.

These are some pictures from Beckett's yes day, which started with a 9:30am showing of Ferdinand in the theatre where everyone ate an entire bag of candy. Then to Target to buy a new Lego set and home for lunch of chocolate chip bagels and chick patties and apple slices. In the afternoon we had to go to the doctor because Beckett's had some eye discomfort in the last few months (nothing has come of it yet) and a stop at the ice cream place on the way home for ice cream next to the fireplace.

Daddy Day

Presidents' Day Jeff had the day off with the boys. They visited Billy Beez at the mall and enjoyed some chilling time at home.

Last of the snow

Beckett and Reed and I went out for a walk on a sunny day last week when the snow was melting. It was actually too hot to wear all of our snow gear but it was necessary because of how wet it was. We walked up to the end of our road and back down the next road. At the corner of the two roads there was a hill between the two. The boys had a great time clamboring up the hill, which was wet and muddy and slushy, and then sliding back down.

On Valentines' Day the boys' school had a playdate at the outdoor ice rink downtown. Theo and Beckett loved the chance to free skate after so many lessons so far this season. Beckett's M.O. is generally to skate like a bat out of hell around and around and around the rink. Theo had fun trying out the walkers on the ice. It was actually challenging to skate because it was about 50 degrees. There was standing water in several places on the ice, and cones up to warn skaters away from them. I haven't been on skates in years but I had a great time chatting with other Latin parents and watching them skate with their friends.
