Sanibel trip!

We got back yesterday from another wonderful vacation in Sanibel with Grandpa Stu and Grandma Joanie. Many photos and videos will follow as we sort through and post, but I wanted to start with some lowlights:
1) Theo was sick the entire vacation. He would not have gone to school a single day we were gone because he was too sick. First he had the remnants of an ear infection, then he had the flu and a fever for nine days straight, and in the midst of that, he got croup (RSV). He had antibiotics, more Advil and Tylenol than he has ever had, and then four doses of steroids to open his airway to help him breathe. He muscled through lots of fun in the pool, on the beach, and on the bike, but he also had lots of sad, sicky time in bed.
2) Beckett didn't know what to do with himself being the only big kid most of the time while Theo was sick in bed. He seemed kind of happy about it, but also kind of out of sorts.

And some highlights:
1) Reed started crawling
2) Beckett and Theo started swimming
3) Perfect weather every day--sunny, warm, with a breeze most days and warm nights

My best memory of the trip will be Jeff watching the boys navigating around the pool with noodles on the first day of our trip, Wednesday, and saying that he wished we could be down in Florida for a month so that they could learn to swim. Then Friday, we watched the boys swim a couple of yards by themselves. Within another day or two, they were swimming across the narrow end of the pool, unassisted!

  1. Poor Theo. :( But yay for swimming! Such an important skill! And they seem to really enjoy it. :) Miss you all, glad you had a great time in Florida! --Anne
