This is to put to rest any doubt that Reed is the best baby of all time. On the boys' birthday, he and I ran around in the morning to the grocery store, then made lunches for the whole family to take to the Latin school to enjoy with Theo and Beckett, and then drove with Daddy to school. We read books in their classrooms and then sat at the special birthday table to eat lunch together. Then we had to return to Wegmans to retrieve a Batcar lost in the grocery cart (success!) and made a stop at a playground on the way home. When we got home, I was feeling tired. After we played in the yard for a while, we came inside and I told Reed we had to go upstairs for him to take a nap. He said he wasn't tired, so I told him that I was tired and going upstairs to take a nap. I fell asleep to the sounds of his playing with Legos in the boys' room. I woke up 30 minutes later to him climbing into bed next to me with his blankie. He settled in and went to sleep. I went back to sleep next to him and slept for another 20 minutes. I can guarantee that this never, ever happened with his brothers.
A couple of weeks ago Reed and I went to the grocery store. I pulled into a parking spot next to a van. As I was unbuckling my seat belt I saw a man returning to the van next to me, where the driver was sitting in the driver's seat. The two men started arguing with each other just after I opened the slider door to get Reed out. I think they were arguing about where the returning man was putting the groceries. They started yelling at each each other and swearing, so I stayed in the car to wait til they stopped arguing or drove away. When the argument seemed to have settled down I got out and came to the backseat to unbuckle Reed from his seat. The men were still sitting in the van, seething at each other but not saying anything. As I carried Reed past the passenger side door, the window of which was open, Reed turned toward the passenger, smiled his brightest smile, cocked his head to the side, and fairly yelled "Enjoy your day!" The guy looked at Reed in confusion and we went in the store before I cracked up and cuddled Reed to my chest. Can you believe this guy??
