Fun in the water

 There's a great little spray fountain at the park near our house that we've been going to a lot lately. There's a fountain and a place for the water to pool which is perfect for stomping and splashing. In the afternoon and evening it's overrun with kids, especially much bigger kids, but in the mornings we usually have it to ourselves. Last Sunday afternoon it was hot and so we ventured out for the first time. The other kids near the fountain were very gentle and considerate and the boys had a wonderful time.

 Theo loves to run into the shower, then looks stunned by the force of the water and the cold.

 Where there is water, there is mud!

 This is at our lake neighbor's house, which has a great pebble beach. The boys loved walking into the lake, even up to their necks! At one point Theo was walking on his own in the water, with me right above him, and I looked down and he was completely immersed and motionless. I grabbed him and righted him, and besides looking surprised, he never even coughed. I am pretty sure he held his breath! What a smart baby!

Visit with Auntie Alexis

 Auntie Alexis visited Ithaca last weekend and the boys enjoyed a special playground visit with her and Anna. Plus Mama Lovebo snuck out for some alone time for lunch with Alexis--yea!!

 When we left the playground everyone was pretty hot and sweaty. Despite the fact that I do not believe I have ever had a Slushie, I for some reason became obsessed on the drive back to the lake with procuring a cherry Slushie, having decided that a Slushie was the only way I could quench my intense thirst. Having never bought or consumed a Slushie I did not know where to find one. I wasn't sure if it was an ice cream shop item or a grocery store item. However I had a vague memory of a Slushie machine at the convenience store in Cambridge MA. So I left my hot toddlers in the car with the windows down to venture into the Trumansburg Byrne Dairy and, with the help of a kind cashier, bought us a cherry Slushie. Not surprisingly, Theo and Beckett enjoyed it very much (as did Mama!).

Hot weekend at the lake

 Thanks to Grandma Joanie the boys now both have waterproof shoes for walking in wet places. Yay Dollar General! Our neighbors at the lake let us use their nice pebble beach. Beck enjoyed climbing the stairs nearly as much as playing in the water.

 Theo and Beckett love their book time with Grandpa Stu, who read the same three books (Owl Babies, Corduroy, and Goodnight Gorilla) over and over and OVER all weekend.

 The boys also got to see their Aunt Teddy and Uncle Tom, visiting from North Carolina. They didn't see a lot of their cousin Sunny (a Westie) because of an unfortunate accidental poisoning incident that required a 48-hour vet stay, but they enjoyed their time with the human visitors.

Happy Birthday Daddy Lovebo!

Daddy Lovebo's birthday was July 3, and we had lots of fun and cake for his birthday. Especially nice was a great visit with the Grandparents Leibowitz.

Weekend at the lake

 I thought our first boat trip would be more eventful and exciting for the babies. In actuality, though, they both fell asleep within five minutes of being on the boat, probably within three minutes of getting the boat started up. Maybe they'll stay up long enough next time to enjoy a little spray in the face.

 Before they fell asleep they enjoyed their sun hats and flotation shirts.

A sleepy walk late in the afternoon, on a hot day when they were too crabby to stay around the house.
This walk ended better than the one when Theo bit Beckett in the arm.

The boys love reading! When they're not feeling good I often say "go get a book to read with Mama!" and they grin and giggle and go over to the book shelf and pick out a book and bring it over. When one sits down to read the other usually toddles over to find a spot on my lap.
