Three weeks with Reed

Today is Reed's three week birthday! Here's what he's like, so far:

He does not like being put down during the day, but sleeps well at night. He loves being worn in a Moby wrap or sometimes in a sling, and will sleep peacefully through shopping or playground trips with Mama and his brothers. At night he usually nurses right before Mama and Daddy go to bed, and sleeps through til 2 or 2:30am. He wakes up once or twice more before the rest of the house is up. Last night he seemed to be having a problem pooping or with gas and was kind of fussy during the night. Usually he starts moving around and making noise, then relaxes through a diaper change, then nurses for 10-15 minutes before passing out again. He has no problem being transferred to the Rock and Play next to our bed, and going right to sleep. During the day he sleeps for short periods in the bouncer seat, on our bed, or in his crib. He loves sleeping in someone's arms, though! He has been a pretty good sport through big-people meals, usually letting us put him down so we can eat. He's a good burper but in the last few days has had some wet burps a la Theo and Beckett in the early days. We just started using our cloth diapers since his cord stump fell off, and so far they're a little loose in the legs. It's a work in progress.

Reed's brothers have some interest in him, particularly in touching his face, his eyes, and tiny feet. Mostly they ignore him, which I think is for the best. I frequently nurse him when I am reading to them, and Reed seems tolerant of the inevitable bumps he gets as his brothers are getting comfortable in my lap and pointing things out in the story.

We're not scheduled to go back to the pediatrician until the end of June, since at his one-week appointment he was already above birth weight. It will be fun going to these pediatrician appointments with him, since I won't be worried he hasn't gained appropriately. And it might be fun to see a dot on the growth chart that's actually ON the chart instead of at the margins!
