We missed our great neighborhood fun on Halloween this year but we started what may become a new tradition--hunting for Halloween candy a la Easter eggs. In Grandma Joanie's yard in Ithaca, which is VERY dark with lots of dark nooks and crannies to hide candy. The highlight was Grandma Joanie surprising everyone by dressing up in a panda costume and jumping out at the kids.
Bringing all the loot in and dumping it on the dining room table is a family tradition and one that reminded us a lot of Grandpa Stu. We always celebrated Halloween with Grandpa Stu, who insisted on seeing all the candy and generously accepted donations of unwanted candy (usually Snickers) from the kids.
