I attempted an ambitious 16 mile bike trip with the kids when Joan and Jeff were playing golf one day. Luckily Jeff was able to swing by and pick us up on the way home, cutting off the last few miles of our trip that we didn't have to finish in the dark. It helped that we stopped for candy along the way.
We found a lot of painted shells around Sanibel this trip so one day we collected shells and painted them. We ended up attached to many of them so we didn't hide as many as I'd anticipated but it was a fun activity. Next time we'll have to use more permanent paint, since some washed off.
A highlight from a past trip was a scavenger hunt at the Historical Village. The docents there do a great job creating some fun out of a historical trip, and occupying the kids with their quests so the adults can enjoy exploring.
